TwentyTwo.

Pouring words and lost memories floated by when a shower of birthday wishes flooded his Facebook.

And still counting.

Today, M had a presentation. Successful with flying colours. He was glad that he proved himself a lot more useful that he thought he will be with the vastly succesful project and presentation. With that, he took into a liking of wearing smart clothing and ties to University; seems like everyone looks at you when you are out of the ordinary.

In a good way.

The time was 4:00pm.

M was a little dissapointed when his friends could not go out to the city centre with him at dinner time. He stood by the bus station, and waited for her. A smooth cold breeze swept by, giving him chills.

5:00pm

She hasn't appeared. His chilling body accompanied with his dissapointed smile almost took its toll.

5:30pm

He stood up and left. Saw a fellow friend with the same birthday and decided to chat. Then she asked.

"Who are you waiting for?"

"Some...one. Maybe."

His friend pointed near the ATM machine thereafter.

"Is that her?"

He found her. At last.

"I can't come tonight...", a soft spoken voice came from her.

An overjoyed M slowed his pace down and opened a sunken smile. His heart ached then.

Back home, his friend suggested a closer restaurant.

She came along then.

And his day grew brighter. Again.

"How long will this last before it falls apart again?"

He pondered.

The bed seem like a viable option for now.

Something more.

He wonders who actually knew about his birthday.

What if he didn't put his birthdate on Facebook?

Maybe he's just hoping for something more.

"There's nothing you can do."

To begin,

Few days of temporary happiness.
A day of Korean Barbecue.

Bulgogi

A night to share one umbrella with her.
A night of crazy random dancing, random drinking games and random UNO playing.
"Seems too real, again..."
Something must go wrong,
One big drama, his life is.

32 minutes left.
Almost a year older
Already feeling old, he thinks.

28 minutes left.
Dress like a butler, for an anime convention.
It would mean the world if she comes along.

9 minutes past 12.
Hopes aren't high now. Falls beneath 5%.
"There's nothing you can do..."
He heard his mind say so.
But his heart begged to differ.
"She seems like the one. The one will unfold the used paper, and turn it into something new."

Hardships.

The willingness to do particularly well in his course, fueled M's confidence in writing his major assignment and projects, so much so that he volunteered to compile, recheck, and rewrite all of his group member's English mistakes, references, missing words and citations.

But then what will he achieve in doing so? He wasn't sure himself.

Pride maybe.

However, the never ending punishment of writing complex setences, visiting library at ungodly hours, working during the recent Mid-Sem holidays and indulging oneself with research papers allowed M to witness a change in himself. That "change" lies within that one person, who seemingly calmed his heart and mind after long weeks of stress, with her caring and somewhat funny persona.

But then, he does not want to make the same mistake again; putting too much trust, pressure and feelings in his gestures, his wrongdoings, his emotions.

He did not want to suffer, just like before.

He did not want it to end, just like before.

A closed heart, just like few years ago.

His heart aches, again.
